The Art of Belonging

"Home is a feeling"

Deadline: December 21

Theme — The Art of Belonging

Home is both a place and a feeling. It can be the land where you were born, the country you left, the rooms where you slept as a child, or the place you long to return to.

It can be a family house, a temporary shelter, an imagined refuge, a memory, a loss, a dream, a longing, a belonging.

Home can be:

  • A country

  • A kitchen

  • A neighborhood

  • A person

  • A landscape

  • A city block

  • Or the feeling of love, safety, distance, exile, renewal, or return

We invite photographers worldwide to interpret The Art of Belonging in any photographic style—documentary, fine art, portraiture, conceptual, abstract, architectural, environmental, or experimental.
Every approach is welcome. Every perspective is valued.

About This Exhibition Format

Decagon Gallery introduces a new way to participate in our exhibitions—a streamlined, accessible entry structure designed to make world-class curation available to more photographers, without lowering the gallery’s standards or artistic integrity.

This format keeps fees low while preserving what matters most:

  • Thoughtful curation

  • Clear, elegant presentation

  • International visibility

  • A professionally produced exhibition catalog (available on Blurb)

There are no prize tiers, no cash awards, and no video component.
Instead, the focus is purely on strong photography and meaningful curation.

Jurying will be conducted by gallery director John Manno.

Each exhibition is curated with the same care, seriousness, and artistic intention as our traditional juried shows.

Entry Fees

Our new fee structure is designed for accessibility while maintaining the quality and standards Decagon is known for:

  • $5 — submit up to 4 images

  • $15 — submit up to 10 images

The maximum entry fee is $15 for 10 images. There are no additional fees and no tiered charges per image.

This approach allows more photographers—international, emerging, or established—to participate without financial barriers, while maintaining a highly curated exhibition.

What Selected Photographers Receive

Selected artists will have:

  • Their work featured in the online exhibition on Decagon Gallery

  • Inclusion in the professionally designed catalog (hardcopy available through Blurb)

  • Promotion on Decagon’s website and social media platforms

Although this streamlined format does not include cash awards, certificates, digital badges, or video presentations, the value lies in the quality and visibility of the exhibition itself.

Decagon Gallery remains committed to presenting photographer’s work thoughtfully, elegantly, and with global reach.
